COUNCILLOR Sean Anstee will remain in his position as leader of Trafford Council for the second year running – but there has been some shake-up within the executive.
Trafford Council’s executive membership was agreed at Trafford’s annual council meeting on Wednesday May 25.
Conservatives retained power of the council after last month’s election and it has been confirmed Cllr Sean Anstee is to remain council leader, a position he has held since May 2014.
Cllr Anstee said: “It is a huge privilege to be returned to the position of leader and a role I will continue to work hard at for the best interests of Trafford, its residents and businesses.
“We have a lot to do, the council is still facing stringent financial savings and we will need to make those whilst continuing to provide efficient and cost effective services.
“I believe we continue to have a strong executive leading from the top to make Trafford Council one of the best in the country and make the decisions that will benefit the whole of Trafford.”
However, there have been some changes to the executive. This includes the combining of the economic growth and planning and environment and operations portfolios into the economic growth, environment and infrastructure portfolio, which will be led by Cllr John Reilly.
Cllr Alex Williams has taken the role of deputy leader, taking over from Cllr Michael Young. Cllr Williams will also be in charge of the portfolio for adult social services and community wellbeing.
The full list of membership of the executive is: leader Cllr Sean Anstee, Reshaping Trafford; deputy leader Cllr Alex Williams, adult social services and community wellbeing; Cllr John Reilly, economic growth, environment and infrastructure; Cllr Michael Hyman, children’s services; Cllr John Lamb, communities and partnerships; Cllr Patrick Myers , finance; and Cllr Laura Evans, transformation and resources.
