OAK Tyres, the UK’s leading independent distributor to the fast fit industry, is expanding its capacity in Trafford with a warehouse move that will bring 20 new jobs to the area.
The distributor is moving from its current location on Fourth Avenue to just off Tenax Road in Trafford Park.
The move itself will quadruple the tyre capacity of the Manchester depot and with other warehouses in Haydock, Tyne and Wear, and Leeds, Oak’s total tyre capacity will increase to 350,000.
Oak Tyres sells over 9,000 tyres daily and has been supplying tyres to garages all over the Greater Manchester area since the 1980s, with the first Manchester warehouse added in 2007.
The move will also see additional vans joining the Trafford-based fleet to help with the added capacity.
“Preparations for the new warehouse have been underway for the past 12 months,” commented operations manager Simon Atherton.
“Greater Manchester comes second only to Greater London in terms of population so it’s essential that as we grow our market share, we continue to invest to keep Oak’s service offer second to none. We’re extremely excited by the added capacity that the new facility will provide.”
