A SALE Beaver Scout colony is in urgent need of a new leader.

The popular current leader of 7th Sale Beaver Scouts, Jess, is moving on in July.

This means the 20-strong group - aged between six and eight - needs a new leader to take over when meetings resume after the summer holidays in September.

Tom Cuffe, whose son is one of the Beaver Scouts, said: "Jess has done a fantastic job for the past few years. All the Beavers love her and will miss her loads."

He continued: "If you've got a little spare time and would like to spend it being a valuable part of your community helping children develop and grow, then this could be the perfect opportunity for you.

"Even if you have no experience, even if you were never a Scout yourself, even if you were a Brownie or Guide you might just surprise yourself with how much you can offer to the children and just how much fun you'll have.

"If you're interested, come along for one evening just to see if it's for you."

The 7th Sale Scout Group was established in 1929 and has had a thriving history in Sale Moor. Its members are a familiar sight at events such as running a barbecue at the Fathers's Day Fair in Worthington Park, or dishing out goodies at Taylor's Butchers while shoppers are waiting for their Christmas turkey.

If you're interested contact Jess on 078966 52735 or 0161 286 0904. The Beavers meet at Clarendon Road, Sale, on Thursdays from 6.15 to 7.45pm during term time.
