CARRINGTON Power Station has confirmed that it was responsible for the loud noise that mystified Trafford last night.
Concerned residents contacted the Messenger after hearing what sounded like a ‘jet engine’ over Carrington at around 9.30pm on Thursday April 28.
The developers of Carrington Power Station, GE Power and DF Energy, confirmed the noise was due to steam blowing the plant's second unit, as part of the commissioning process.
This cleaning step of the commissioning process – which also involved the emission of plumes of steam – commenced last Monday and finished last night.
