TRAFFORD’S ‘Bin it to win it’ recycling campaign has been hailed a success.

Recycle for Greater Manchester and One Trafford's campaign included the delivery of a new recycling information leaflet and door step surveys were carried out with over 1900 residents in areas of Flixton, Urmston and Davyhulme East.

The key aim of the survey was to talk to residents about their recycling at home to encourage them to recycle as much as they can and to let them know what recycling facilities are available to them.

During the campaign 600 households were selected at random and their bins were inspected during December to check for good recycling.

There was also a prize draw and three residents won a £250 shopping voucher.

Councillor John Reilly, councillor for Davyhulme West Ward and executive member of environment and operations, said “This has been a really successful campaign enabling us to find out more about residents recycling at home and to let them know the importance of recycling and the tangible benefits to our economy.”

Trafford is currently recycling at a rate of 62 per cent.
