THE Friends of John Leigh Park are looking forward to a busy Christmas season.

The group have created a Christmas calendar and cards, depicting scenes of the Altrincham park through the seasons.

The A3 calendars, which feature 13 photographs of the park, are priced at £7.50, and the blank cards, also featuring photographs of the park, cost £3 per pack of six.

Dave Jolley, from Friends of John Leigh Park, said: “The idea is to make a modest profit to use for plants, facilities and activities on the park, but mostly to share the beauty, peace and opportunities for exercise and games in this wonderful place.

“Calendars and cards are to share with friends all year round. We have been moved by comments, stories and ideas which people have been telling us when they come to buy them from us or from the Brow Post office.

“We are looking for photographs of the month through next year, for artist-drawn illustrations of park life and we must produce a store of stories and photographs of park memories.”

The group will also be hosting Carols in the Park on Sunday December 20, in association with Altrincham Baptist Church.

The carol service will begin at 4.30pm and is free entry.

Calendars and cards can be purchased at Brow Post Office or from Dave Jolley on 07976018418 or Maggie Leslie on 0161 928 6277.
