A ‘Jungle Book’ themed cake won Urmston bakery Richard’s Cakes the top award at Manchester’s Cake and Bake Show on Sunday November 15.
The event had a star studded turnout with Master Chef judge Gregg Wallace, celebrity chef Lisa Faulkner and several of this year’s competitors on the Great British Bake Off attending.
Emma Ball, from Richard’s cake, took first place in the professional prize at the event hosted at Event City for the spectacular cake.
Emma said: “I'm extremely proud of this achievement, making cakes can be very personal as they're a form of your artwork so for it to be recognised and appreciated is just amazing.”
The cakes can take as long as three months to make and Emma admitted she is always nervous to see how her cakes will be received.
On winning the award, Emma won a Kenwood K- Mixer and this is the latest in a long line of awards that the cake shop has won, including in the International showcase awards last April.
Celebrities such as Andrew Flintoff, David Beckham and Jason Manford have been known to buy cakes from Richard’s Cakes.
