ART lovers can get their hands on unique and rare marquetry pieces at Hale Library from this December.

Timperley marquetarian Richard Smith – who creates intricate pictures in wood veneers – will be holding an exhibition at the library, on Leigh Road, from Monday December 7 to Saturday December 12.

Marquetry is an art form that can trace its origin back to 16th century France and for the first time the 72-year-old will be selling some of the wood creations on display.

The library will be closed on the Wednesday. For more information or if you are interested in purchasing a piece, contact Richard on 0161 969 3001 or 07980063425.
