EAGER shoppers queued up to be first through the doors of Altrincham’s latest superstore on Friday.

Trafford Mayor Cllr John Holden joined The Range’s owner and founder Chris Dawson in cutting the ribbon at the home, garden and leisure store, on Altrincham Retail Park, on November 20.

The Range offered giveaways to the first 50 people in the queue and shoppers flocked to the store be in with a chance of winning.

The Key 103 FM street team also ran a competition instore on the opening morning, and a handful of winners got a share of £250 in Range vouchers.

The company’s own mascot, Captain Range, was also on hand to entertain the crowds.

Owner Chris said: “It was very positive to have so many people join us for the opening of the new Altrincham store this morning. I would like to thank all of the staff for their hard work in preparing for the opening and would like to welcome them to The Range team.

“We would like to thank the council for being so supportive and welcoming us to the local community.”

The new store has brought around 80 jobs to the area, from store managers and warehouse staff to sale assistants to office managers.

The store has 16 departments set over two floors, from bedding and furniture to kitchen and lighting, and also an extensive Christmas shop, an outdoor garden centre and family café.
