TRAFFORD animal charity, the Society for Abandoned Animals, is inviting families and fans of the festive season to its annual Christmas Fair fundraiser, on Saturday 28th November.

The event, open from 12pm until 4pm at the Greenfield Church, in Urmston, and will feature family entertainment, craft stalls, raffles, a selection of sweet treats and cakes.

Christina O’Rourke, trustee at Society for Abandoned Animals, comments: “Our Christmas fair is always extremely popular, and this one promises to be even bigger and better than previous years with a whole host of additional activities.

“In addition to enjoying the games and entertainment on offer, visitors can meet Father Christmas, all while making a difference to a local cause.”

The charity spends over £3,500 per month to care for its animals onsite, including food costs and vet bills. In five years the charity has successfully re-homed over 1,500 animals. At present, the society has an abundance of kittens in its care, who are all looking for new homes.

Two-year old Jeeves was abandoned as a kitten and left fending for himself on the streets before being rescued and taken in to the shelter. After a few months of treatment and care, he is ready to be re-homed with a family who will cuddle and care for him.

Christina added: “We wouldn’t be able to provide care and treatment to as many animals as we do without the support from the local community. The money we raise from the various activities and admission fees will go towards the sanctuary’s running costs. The team and animals, like Jeeves, are eternally grateful for the continued support.”

Admission is £1 for adults and 50p for children and all proceeds will contribute towards the rescue centre.
