AN oil rig worker from Urmston has caught the attention of the internet with his North Sea, hi-vis rendition of an Oasis classic.

Richard Stanway, 38, along with his fellow crew members performed an impromptu cover of the Manchester band’s ‘Talk Tonight’ song whilst being stationed on the Brent Delta platform.

The video was uploaded onto Youtube yesterday and has been totting up thousands of hits.

Richard takes the lead and, before bursting into song, (complete with customary dark sunglasses) he dedicates the track to "all the boys who are working away from their wives, kids and girlfriends".

Richard’s wife Sharon said: “I’m really proud of him. Everybody has been ringing me all day. They do it to keep the morale up as they are there for weeks on end.”

Talk Tonight, written and sung by Noel Gallagher, was released as a B-Side on the number one single Some Might Say in April 1995. It also appears on the B-side compilation album, The Masterplan, released in November 1998.
