SALE artist Abigail Fletcher has won a place at one of the world's leading art schools and she's selling her own pieces to fund her course.

The 24-year-old has the opportunity to learn from a Turner Prize winner if she can raise a minimum of £2,500 towards the costs off her course at Oxford University's Ruskin School of Art.

A former Altrincham Grammar School for Girls student, Abigail said: "The Ruskin is one of the world's leading art schools and this is the first year that they are offering a Master's course.

"The school has invested in a brand new building with incredible digital facilities, but the most special thing about the Ruskin are the tutors there. They have leading experts and the incredible Turner prize winning artist Elizabeth Price will be mentoring on the Master's course."

The Clough Avenue resident said her ultimate ambition is to become an art teacher at a university and help students develop their own artistic talent - as well as creating her own pieces.

She achieved a first class honours degree in fine art from Newcastle University and said she's been interested in the subject for as long as she can remember.

Abigail said: "Ever since I can remember I have always made things, I used to get through rolls and rolls of sellotape when I was younger. All the way through school Art was definitely my favourite subject and then I went onto study it further at university. I can’t really explain where my interest in art has come from but I have always been driven by a curiosity of the things around me."

Abigail said she admires the work of artists like Prado and Hieronymus Bosch.
