A TIMPERLEY pet shop owner had an emotional reunion with his beloved parrot three weeks after it was stolen during a night-time burglary.

Graham Ralston, manager of Timperley Aquatics, was left distraught after his green winged macaw, Baby, was stolen on August 4.

The £2,000 bird is a popular feature of the Stockport Road shop, known as ‘Baby’ for its habit of saying ‘hello baby’ to greet customers.

Graham was reunited with Baby on Tuesday at Altrincham Police station.

Graham said: “She seems fine. She’s happy to be back we’re very happy to have her back. She doesn’t appear to be feeling any ill effects from her ordeal.

“The support from people has been overwhelming. It’s taken me an hour to get through the village to post a letter because so many people have stopped to talk to me and offer support.

“Everyone has been brilliant. I’ve had messages from people in Barbados and Canada who have been following the story.”

A man has been charged in connection with the burglary and is due to appear at Minshull Street Crown Court next month.
