THE Parish Church of St Paul, on Springfield Road, Sale, will be throwing open its doors on September 12, 10am to 5pm, as part of the National Heritage Open Day.

In the church hall throughout the day there will be Victorian afternoon teas, home-made cakes and sandwiches.

Harpist Sarah Paterson will be playing from 12noon to 2pm, and there will be a barbecue on the south lawn from 12noon to 3pm.

The day will feature a special exhibition of the works of the late Stretford artist Frances Lennon.

There will be performances from the Sale Handbell Ringers, Bollin Morris - Old English Morris Dancing, Cadishead Brass Band and the St. Paul’s Church and Community Choir will also be making an appearance.

Professional Storyteller Helen Stewart will spin yarns and weave tales for all, while activities for children will feature a Punch and Judy Show, Fun Time Magic Show, plate spinning, bouncy castle and period games.

A new exhibition of old and rare photographs entitled “A walk around Sale” will take visitors on a journey around old Sale.

There will also be an exhibition to mark the 800th Anniversary of Magna Carta.

Highlights of the day will include guided tours of the Church Tower and Belfry, and an opportunity to view the Parish Registers.

There will be various exhibitions showing off many of St. Paul’s hidden gems.
