ST. Ambrose College students A-ced their GCSEs to register record results at the Hale Barns Catholic Grammar School.

An impressive 61 per cent of all grades were either A* or A up from 52 per cent the previous year with the A* to C pass rate increasing to 98.2 per cent from 97.1 per cent.

St. Ambrose College headmaster Michael Thompson said: β€œIt's important to stretch the brightest minds and our young men have clearly enjoyed and risen to the challenges set.”
