A NEW Asda store is set to open its doors in Broadheath in a couple of months - and the supermarket giant is looking to recruit up to 200 employees.

The retailer is recruiting for a mixture of part and full-time positions across all of its departments.

Those interested should visit www.asda.jobs and select 'Altrincham’ for further information.

The 40,000 square foot superstore, located on George Richards Way, will open its doors following the closure of the Asda Living in Altrincham Retail Park on September 27.

The wide range of roles available at Asda includes everything from bakers and personal shoppers to shop floor assistants and check-out colleagues.

Anthony Rutherford, general store manager at Asda Altrincham, said: “We’re committed to working with the Altrincham community, so our new jobs are vital to that."

The controversial store scheme was approved by Trafford's planning chiefs two years ago - a week after it was originally turned down on the grounds it could impede plans to regenerate the Square shopping centre in Sale town centre, and so failed the council’s 'sequential test'.

An application by Morrisons to build a a supermarket on the B&Q site on Atlantic Street, Broadheath was rejected at the same time.
