IT was standing room only when the 35-strong Stamford Park Junior school held its concert.

Headteacher Cathryn Downing said the event at the Hale school, featuring 35 eight to 11 year olds was a 'huge success'.

She added: "All the programme was good but this year's highlight was the most recent addition - the percussion section - looking cool in their shades."

In rehearsals, the five young members of the percussion group were really having a ball as they prepared to play Mystery March, Uptown Funk and C-Jam Blues.

The orchestra’s musical director, Sue Lewis, a graduate of the Royal Northern College of Music, said: “To play good music, the players must be disciplined and work as a team."
