A MARIE Curie nurse who has cared for many hundreds of people in Greater Manchester is leading a huge fundraising walk in aid of the charity.

Sylvia Spilling, 71, has worked as a Marie Curie nurse for almost a quarter of a century, caring for people at the end of their lives in their own homes.

Ahead of her retirement later this year, Sylvia will to speak at the start of the 10km Walk to Remember at Tatton Park in Knutsford.

The twilight walk will raise funds to allow Marie Curie nurses to continue their crucial work.

Sylvia said: “Being a Marie Curie nurse has definitely been the best job I have ever had. Marie Curie do so much good."

Sylvia started working for Marie Curie in gratitude for the support nurses gave her father, Lewis Dunn, and their family, as he was dying.

Marie Curie supports those living with any terminal illness, and their families.
