TIMPERLEY Village's boarded-up post office will re-open after it was severely damaged after an attempted robbery, promise Post Office bosses.

Thieves set off an explosion in an unsuccessful bid to blow open a cash machine outside the Stockport Road shop.

The Post Office says it is committed to getting the branch trading again.

A Post Office spokesman said: “As customers will be aware, Timperley Post Office closed on June 3 following an attack which caused extensive damage to the property.

“The postmaster is working with the insurance company to arrange for repairs to the post office and return it to service.

“We would like to reassure customers that we are committed to restoring post office services to Timperley and apologise for the inconvenience caused by the temporary closure of the branch.”

The offenders fled the scene after the unsuccessful raid, which occurred at around 2.20am on June 3
