WILMSLOW High School is celebrating after being recognised for its outstanding commitment to community and enterprise.

It was highly commended at the Community Education Awards, which won it a place in the top eight schools, at the TES Schools Awards.

The distinction was all the more impressive, in that the school was judged from among 2,500 entries from schools across the UK.

Wilmslow High School received a highly commended award in the Inspiring Career Opportunity category in the Achievement Partners programme. It marked an initiative by the school that has engaged 200 local businesses, in providing more than 500 work experience placements and has engaged over one thousand pupils in community focused initiatives over the past 18 months.

Assistant headteacher, Mark Vincent said: “We are delighted to be nationally recognised for our achievements in the community and would like to thank all the local groups and businesses, particularly the Wilmslow Business Group and DHL, who work with us to provide our students with unique experiences and opportunities.”
