A FORMER Flixton teacher of who died in a tragic dune buggy accent in the Middle East was an ‘inspirational and gifted’ educator.

Colleagues at Wellacre Academy have paid tribute to Charlotte Sant, who was killed on Saturday alongside boyfriend, Eamonn Morgan, of Newry, Ireland, when their vehicle overturned in Qatar.

Wellacre headteacher, Melanie Wicks, described how the 24-year-old made a huge impact in her short time at the school.

“She was an amazing teacher. She had an effervescent character; full of life. As a teacher, you either have it or you don’t, and Charlotte had it in abundance.

“She was very, very gifted and will be a massive loss to the profession. Some of the best teaching I’ve ever seen came from her.”

Wellacre Academy are creating a book of condolences, full of the memories of staff and pupils, to present to Charlotte’s parents.

Charlotte worked at Wellacre for a year before moving to Doha with Mr Morgan, where she worked as a PE teacher.

The pair plaid Gaelic Football for the Qatar GAA club.

In a Facebook statement, Qatar GAA Chairman, Peter Crowe, said: “It's with a heavy heart that we mourn the loss of two of our members, two of our friends, two of our family.

“I had the pleasure of training Charlotte for the past year, a sweet girl, who took to a new sport with more enthusiasm than you could ever ask for.

“Eamonn and Charlotte will be sorely missed, people often don't realise at home how much of a community can be built away from home, but I can tell you, sincerely, that Eamonn and Charlotte were very much central to the community that is Qatar GAA and it will be hard to imagine it without them.

“They will remain forever in our hearts and we are thinking of their family and friends back home.”
