LEARNERS of all ages were part of events held at Wilmslow Library.

Before the Adult Learners Week, got underway, children were treated to a visit by the Bookstart Bear

Library staff member Jennifer Davies said: "Everybody who attended the bear's visit had a great time listening to stories and singing rhymes, they also received a free book and activity sheet based on this year's jungle theme.

"This was followed by the first session of our annual Adult Learners Week which this year included Peaks and Plains, who hosted a hands on introduction to tablets and iPads."

Later that week, The Whirley Sewing School, helped participants produce some amazing work, while the final session, was hosted by the former Cheshire Poet Laureate Joy Winkler who read some of her new poems.

Ms Davies explained: "Joy read some of her wonderful work, which subsequently led a discussion about the influence of nature in poetry."

The week concluded with the launch of the first Wilmslow, Handforth and Alderley Edge, adult reading challenge ‘Dip your Toe into Something New’, for those children aged up to 12 years.
