WILMSLOW is gearing up for one of the biggest weekend party's of the year this weekend.

The annual Party on the Carrs, is promising to grab all the headlines on Sunday, while an inaugural outdoor cinema on Saturday evening is attracting interest from far and wide

Wilmslow Town Council's Matthew Jackson said the authority sponsored event had led to more than 1,000 people 'liking' the cinema initiative on Facebook, with hundreds saying they would be going along.

He said: "Coupled with Sunday’s Party on the Carrs this weekend promises to be one of Wilmslow’s most memorable weekend's.

"Add to this, the Artisan Market, on the Saturday afternoon, and the town is going to be well and truly buzzing."

Gates for the cinema open on Saturday at 5.30pm., with admission from either Hawthorn Lane or Cliff Road entrances.

The entertainment will start at 6.45pm with an on stage performance from the Magic Voices choir. The main event will follow which is a screening of Mamma Mia, starting at 7.45pm.

The whole show is expected to be over by 9.45pm in order that families can attend.

Please remember to bring your own deckchairs, rugs and picnics but definitely no gazebos. There is also a full bar service available and a movie themed food court both of which will be operating from 6pm

On Sunday gates open at 12 noon with entertainment on the main stage will from 12.15pm. Community stalls and children’s entertainment, along with the bar and food court will be open. Dean Row Guides have agreed to host the inaugural Cinema on the Carrs on Saturday evening by acting as official ushers.

The Rotary Club of Dean Row has agreed to help steward the Party on the Carrs event during which there will be a new world record attempt on the number of teddies in the park at any one time.

The organiser's over are requesting that people walk to both the park, if at all possible, as car parking in the vicinity of the Carrs is limited.

However, there should be plenty of car parking space in the town centre from late Saturday afternoon once the Artisan Market has finished.
