METROLINK and bus services will be boosted on Wednesday. May 27, for concertgoers travelling to see the Foo Fighters at the Emirates Old Trafford ground.

Tram services are expected to be extremely busy before and after the concert and more double trams will run on the Altrincham and East Didsbury lines to meet demand.

The venue is a short walk from the Old Trafford Metrolink stop and the Trafford Bar stop is also nearby. Exchange Quay and Salford Quays stops are also within walking distance of about 20 minutes from the ground.

There are fast and frequent services on all Metrolink lines, with journeys taking around 15 minutes from Manchester city centre. People are advised to leave extra time for their journey if travelling at peak times.

There are a large number of free Park & Rides for Metrolink customers across the tram network – with East Didsbury and Sale Water Park stops the closest – making the journey to Old Trafford as quick and easy as possible.

A full range of value for money tickets and travelcards is available from the ticket machines at every stop – tickets must be bought before catching the tram. Further information is available by calling Customer Services on 0161 205 2000 or go to metrolink.co.uk.

Emirates Old Trafford is well served by buses, including frequent services from Manchester city centre. An enhanced 255 bus service will be running pre-concert from the city centre to stopping on Chester Road, close to the ground. A shuttle bus service will be available post-concert from Talbot Road outside the venue to Piccadilly in the city centre.

Long distance and local train services run to both Manchester Piccadilly and Manchester Victoria stations. Passengers travelling into Piccadilly can connect to a Metrolink tram there, passengers travelling into Victoria can board either an Altrincham service from the newly opened Victoria Metrolink stop, or alternatively an Etihad Via Piccadilly service and change at Piccadilly Gardens for an Altrincham service, or an East Didsbury service and alight at Trafford Bar.

Through tickets are available to the Old Trafford Metrolink stop from local train stations by asking the rail ticket office or agent for details when buying a ticket. For times, including last trains call 08457 48 49 50 or go to nationalrail.co.uk.
