A SALE supermarket is set for a six-figure makeover.

The Co-operative food store in Coppice Avenue, Sale, will be spruced up at a cost of £450,000.

Co-op bosses say that when it re-opens on April 30 it will boast an enhanced in-store bakery range, an extended range of newspapers and magazines, and will focus on fresh, healthy foods, chilled produce and essentials.

Other features include new refrigeration, fixtures and lighting and, will extend its opening hours to 7am-10pm seven days a week.

The store will also pioneer a new role, known as a 'community pioneer', where two members of the food store team - Tina Limbert and Sue Hebb - will work to foster involvement in community activities, from local fundraising initiatives to helping to understand and develop solutions to meet community needs.

Store manager Craig Barnes said: “We are thrilled to be making such a significant investment in our Sale store.

"The store will have a great new-look and, it is an exciting time for the whole team.

“We would like to apologise to our customers for any inconvenience caused while our store is closed for its makeover, customers can continue to pick up their Co-operative favourites at our nearby stores in Washway Road, Sale, and Green Lane, Ashton on Mersey and, we look forward to welcoming customers old and new into our new-look store when it re-launches.

“I am confident that the new-look store will provide the community with everything needed to pick-up delicious food and groceries conveniently and create inspirational and tasty meals at home.”

The store closes on April 19 for the work to be carried out.
