A KNUTSFORD based brewery has come up with a new brew to celebrate its fifth anniversary.

Tatton Brewery, which will celebrate the anniversary in June, is planning to launch the new beer Vipa to coincide with the anniversary.

The family business's success is based on having both a custom-built modern brewery, an historic local yeast, and years of experience producing internationally renowned recipes.

Greg Sawyer, head brewer said: "We normally brew beers of between 3.7 per cent to 4.8 per cent strength but the new beer Vipa, will tie in with the brewery first starting trading in June 2010 and will be stronger at 6.3 per cent.

"Vipa is a very pale, dry and strong ale with a unique character, influenced both by modern American-style IPAs and traditional British hoppy ales.

Vipa is also brewed with British and European malts, and Cheshire honey, and hopped with Bramling Cross and Cascade."

The brewery, which has just completed its 500th brew since it was first established, supplies its ales to the many nearby cities and towns.

Mr Sawyer said: "We have not increased our production dramatically since we first set up but we do have plans to do so in the future. The brewery's core philosophy is quality over quantity.

"Most of our beers, which come in bottles, kegs and casks, are shipped locally to places like Liverpool, Manchester and Chester but going into the future we are looking at making them widely available."
