TWO heads are better than one - especially if they just happen to be identical when it comes to appointing a head boy at St. Ambrose College.

For the first time in the school's history the powers that be have chosen joint head boys, but as identical twins Thomas and Dominic Butler point out, they will act with one voice.

Thomas, 16, from Bowdon, said: “Thankfully we have always got on very well and there is absolutely no sibling rivalry.” Dominic, also 16 and also from Bowdon, added: “We will be joint leaders, neither of us is cut out to be a follower.”

The boys are both brilliant academics each having gained the best possible results at GCSE with 11 straight A stars both getting an A* with distinction in Further Maths.

They are now both taking exactly the same A Levels in Maths, Further Maths, Physics, Chemistry and Biology, but neither would reduce their possible options by saying what course they would like to read at which university after their A Levels.

The duo are committed to St. Ambrose and have already been instrumental in setting up a Modern Languages Society, inviting in a series of guest speakers, including the local rabbi and raising money for Francis House.

Dominic said: “As joint Head Boys we should be advocates for the school and represent those values we ourselves have been brought up in”

Thomas added: “We both admire the fact that though St. Ambrose is explicitly Catholic in its beliefs it is not exclusively Catholic and is open to other faiths.”

Dominic added: “We appreciate that St. Ambrose is not simply an exam factory but has a holistic approach to education.” Thomas added: “It aims to inspire the best out in its pupils in all aspects of life.”

The boys have certainly lived up to that creed with both finding time to represent Trafford at swimming and both playing rugby for the school, guess what in the same position, flanker.
