AFTER seven years working at Stretford High School, headteacher James Haseldine is leaving this Easter to work with the David Ross Education Trust.

His role will involve developing their secondary school provision for their group of schools nationwide.

Mr Haseldine said: “I have had an immensely rewarding time working at Stretford. When I arrived we were due to close. What has been achieved since that time, by the tireless work of our staff team, chair, board of governors, key partners and amazing students; means that the school is now in a great position to become outstanding. I’d like to think the community is proud of the way the school has reinvented itself. Stretford High School students are smart, attend, turn up on time, conduct themselves well, contribute to the community, want to learn and achieve, and try hard to do so.

"That mentality will serve our students well as they begin their working and adult lives and I wish every one of our students every success. It has been an honour to be a custodian of this special role and a privilege to serve this great community. “

Ofsted inspectors described the school as a good school. They said “Students enjoy school. They are polite, friendly and behave well in lessons and around school. They have positive attitudes to learning and give their best. Students work in the local community adds to the school’s growing reputation. “

Cllr Karina Carter, chairman of the of board of governors, added: “Mr Haseldine has done a marvellous job of improving and developing the school, whilst enhancing our holistic approach to pupils and families. "
