OLD Trafford-based firm PH Media Group is to donate £32,000 to a variety of good causes.

Employees pulled out all the stops to reach their fundraising target of £16,000 for 2014 after the company board offered to double the total by making an equivalent donation if the target was hit.

Events included the Delamere Forest 15k, a colour run, a Santa dash and a ban on lifts that meant two directors were forced to use the stairs to reach the company's twelfth-floor Old Trafford headquarters and 20 storey London office for six months.

Once the final count revealed staff had reached their goal, the board kept their part of the bargain to make a final £32,000 donation via the company's charity, the PHMG Foundation.

The money will be distributed among a number of charities, including the British Heart Foundation, Alzheimer’s Society, Down’s Syndrome Association, NSPCC, Great Ormond Street Hospital, Christies Hospital, Francis House and Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital.

Finance director Chris Berisford said: “Corporate social responsibility is a core element of PH Media Group's company ethos, so we have worked hard to make charity a part of our employees lives too,

“It’s great to see our staff committed to finding new and innovative ways to challenge themselves for such good causes and enjoying themselves while doing so.

"Since its establishment, our charity the PHMG Foundation has proved a great success and we plan to strengthen our commitment to good causes even further throughout 2015."

Charities that will benefit from this year's fundraising include Help for Heroes, Cystic Fibrosis, St Christopher’s Hospice, St Ann’s Hospice, GOSH, Ronald McDonald House, Christies, Shelter, Sparks, Meningitis Trust, Alzheimer’s Society and Macmillan.
