A FORMER Trafford Young Citizen of the Year is hoping sketches by celebrities will help her to make more

dreams come true for sick youngsters.

Kirsty Ashton is auctioning a collection of doodles by stars including Sir Alex Ferguson, Sir Elton John, Sir Ian Botham, Sir David Jason, Ken Dodd, World Cup hero Sir Geoff Hurst, Sir Roger Bannister and Sir Terry Wogan.

On top of that there is a doodle by renowned Salford artist Harold Riley in the collection.

Twenty-four year-old Kirsty hopes the collection will raise £5,000-plus for the charity When You Wish Upon a Star (WYWUAS), which grants wishes for children with life threatening conditions.

Kirsty herself lives with the conditions neurofibromatosis (N.F) and scoliosis. In 2011 she received the MBE for services to charity, having raised more than £95,000 for WYWUAS. To date, she has raised £165,000 for the charity over nine years.

She said of her latest venture: “I am sure no one will have such a wonderful collection of signed doodles by such famous people and I’m sure the doodle by Harold Riley is worth more than £5,000 on its own.”

WYWUAS organises events such as visiting Santa in Lapland.

Wythenshawe resident Kirsty, a former pupil at Altrincham College of Arts and Trafford College, added: “If you could see these children, you would be touched by their courage and some with the prospect of many months, sometimes years, of very painful treatment. I hope to bring a sparkle into their lives, no matter how big or small.”

Kirsty, who works as a production management assistant in school radio at the BBC’s MediaCity base, added: “I know I have got a long fight ahead of me with my own illness but I will win any battles that lie ahead for me, and helping poorly children is what helps me.”

People can make a bid at www.kirstysstory.co.uk and clicking the auction link or they can email their bid to kirstys.story@gmail.com .

The collection was put together after a supporter of Kirsty’s fundraising efforts, Harry Singleton of Ashton-under-Lyne, wrote to celebrities asking them to send in a doodle.
