ALTRINCHAM Court Leet has made a journalist, former pub landlady and an engineer Freemen of the historic town.
Julia Taylor, Bridget Garner and Michael O'Callaghan were honoured for their contribution to community life.
The swearing in ceremony took place at Altrincham Court Leet's Hilary Assize which was presided over by the deputy Baron's Steward, Alderman Mark Rae and the Provost of Altrincham, Denise Laver.
Julia is a regular contributor to Messenger and Bridget is a former landlady of The Railway in Hale.
Julia said: "I can’t quite believe it - these things happen to other people, not me."
During the Court Leet the Provost heard from her officers about matters relating to Altrincham which had occurred since the Michaelmas Assize. The market looker had discussed the success of Altrincham Market and the impact it has had on the town. The surveyor remarked on the new Interchange and looked forward to the opening of the new hospital this year.
