DAVYHULME Park Golf Club have this week announced the appointment of Richard Clarke as general manager.

Having served Stocksbridge Golf Club as a director for more than 10 years, Mr Clarke, who is also a qualified accountant, brings a wealth of experience to the role in the club’s 104th year.

Commenting on his appointment, Richard Clarke said: "Golf is a business and our members are customers. Far too many clubs rely heavily on their members to be custodians of tradition.

"This is a leisure industry and we need to offer our clients excellence, great customer service and value for money."

It's not the first time the club has brought about refreshing changes.

Davyhulme Park Golf Club was the first in the area to offer new juniors under the age of 16 free membership.

On the future of the club, Richard added: "We have a superb base to work from here. The golf course is highly regarded for its quality and our stunning clubhouse is our prize asset.

"The board of directors are forward looking and have a very clear strategy for me to work to. It's an exciting time in the club's history and I'm excited to be a part of it."
