A COMMUNITY facility in Partington has received a cash boost.

Alstom and DF, consortium partners for the construction of Carrington Power Station, have presented Debra Green, from Redeeming our Communities (ROC), with a donation of £5,000 towards the cost of running the Fuse.

ROC is a national charity which has recently taken out 22-year lease for the Fuse, to be used as its northern headquarters. ROC has 10 years’ experience developing and delivering community projects across the country, aimed at addressing a variety of social needs, especially those relating to disadvantaged children and young people.

Tony Wilson, from Alstom, said: “We’ve used The Fuse in the past for a variety of meetings and conferences and it’s an excellent venue so we were pleased to be able to pledge this money towards the running costs, especially as it’s now in the hands of such a commendable charity.”

Ms Green said: “Local businesses such as Alstom and DF have helped us to keep this facility open. The charity’s main aim is to bring about community transformation by creating strategic partnerships which open up opportunities for crime and disorder reduction and improved community cohesion.”
