POLICE are investigating whether a man who indecently exposed himself to a girl outside a church in Timperley is the same man seen acting suspiciously in Altrincham the following week.

Messenger understands that both incidents took place near to where children’s youth organisations were operating.

A Police spokesman said: “Just after 8pm on Thursday, January 15, police received a report a man had indecently exposed himself to a girl outside a church on Woodlands Parkway, Timperley.

"He was described as white, 6ft tall, had a stubbly face, wore glasses, a black beanie hat, a dark coloured hooded top, raincoat and blue jeans.”

Four days later, at 7pm on Monday, January 19, police received a report that a man wearing a black beanie hat was acting suspiciously outside a parish hall on Church Walk, Altrincham.

Following that incident, the nearby Altrincham CE Primary School issued a safeguarding email to parents stating: “I am writing to notify you that yesterday evening there was an incident involving a male adult in the vicinity of the school to which the Police were called.

“Please ensure that children are brought to school and collected safely especially when it is dark.”

The police spokesman added: “Officers are working to establish whether the incidents are linked and are appealing for anyone with information to call 101 or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.”
