WITNESSES are being sought following a fatal multiple vehicle collision on the M60 near Sale.

27-year-old Scott Hope of Leigh was killed in the crash, which occurred shortly before 4.30pm on Saturday, December 20.

The collision involved six vehicles travelling clockwise at junction 6.

Scott, who was riding a motorcycle, suffered multiple injuries and died.

There were no other serious injuries.

Police are appealing for information and witnesses.

Sergeant Paul Higgins from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit said: “Sadly a young man has lost his life and we are supporting his family during this tragic time.

“We are working to establish what caused the collision but at this stage the circumstances are still unclear.

“We would urge anyone who witnessed the collision or any of the vehicles in the moments beforehand to contact us. In particular we are keen to trace the driver of a small red car who may have witnessed the collision.”

In a statement, Scott’s family paid tribute to him.

They said: “Scott Hope was a devoted family man with a wicked sense of humour. He was a loving son, brother and husband. He was kind of heart and strong willed. Scott loved his motorbike, his wife and Mr Frank his dog. He has left a huge hole in our hearts and will now ride on forever in peace."
