THE companies building the new Carrington power station made a generous contribution to Our Lady of Lourdes Primary School’s Christmas parties.

Alstom and DF handed £500 to the Partington school, enabling their year’s festivities to really go with a bang.

The donation followed a special request for support from John Comerford of the school’s PTA. Head teacher Paul Gibbons said: “We’d like to thank Alstom and DF for their generous contribution to these special events. The children certainly had a great time.”

Joanne Sheehan, from DF, added “We know that budgets are stretched at this time of year and we were pleased to be able to assist in these festive, and very lively, events.”

Rainer Lueoend, from Alstom, said: “Christmas is a time for celebrations and we were happy to provide the funding. It was lovely to be able to be part of their festivities.”

The two parties that took place at the school were a huge success, with representatives from the power station construction team attending the junior disco for four- to seven-year-olds. The children were treated to entertainment by the Frozen Sisters, followed by party food and a disco.
