EXCITED parishioners gathered in Hale after the news that their vicar had been appointed the first woman bishop in the Church of England.
The parish reception at St Peter's Church was attended by many of the congregation, well wishers and TV and radio after Rev Libby Lane was announced as the new Bishop of Stockport.
