TRAFFORD Housing Trust has hosted an open day to launch the Rivers Apartments complex in Stretford Road, Old Trafford, a new scheme that will provide opportunities for people in the local area to get their first foot on the property ladder.

The £2.9 million development, comprising 27 one-bed apartments and nine two-bed shared ownership apartments, was part-funded by a £750,000 Homes and Communities Agency grant.

The complex is the result of the redevelopment of the first demolition site of the Old Trafford Masterplan, Trafford and Rylands Court.

The Old Trafford Masterplan aims to create home and work opportunities for those in the surrounding areas.

The development consists of the first shared ownership properties to come out of the Masterplan, meaning each individual apartment within the building is jointly owned by the Trust and the tenant.

Larry Gold of Trafford Housing Trust said: “The Old Trafford Masterplan is a long term plan to regenerate Old Trafford. It has been developed following a detailed study into the Old Trafford area and extensive consultation with Old Trafford residents.

Rivers Apartments is a fantastic new development and will give an invaluable opportunity to people from the local area to become homeowners for the first time.”
