AS part of Waterside Arts Centre’s 10th anniversary celebrations, the venue has announced a series of micro commissions designed to showcase the work of emerging artists working within two dimensional disciplines.

Selected works will be presented via the WAC's new 55 inch touch screen monitor whilst there will also be opportunities for sing the wall and window space in and around the main foyer of the venue.

The programme consists of ten commissions over the course of a year. The yearly period will be divided into ten equal parts and each successful entrant will have their work showcased for more than 30 days.

The centre is inviting artists to get in touch and apply initially for the first three of the 10 commissions. There will be two further call outs in Spring and Autumn 2015.

Event organisers are looking for new, previously un-exhibited work in the latter stages of development to which we will offer a contribution to develop and finalise for exhibition.

People working with photography, video, animation and mixed media will be eligible to enter. The WAC would like to hear from applications who are adventurous and innovative in their ideas to incorporate the physical space beyond the digital display.

* Artists interested in entering their work can find out more by visiting watersideartscentre.co.uk/whats-on/exhibitions.

The closing date for the current call for entries is January 5.
