THOUSANDS of pounds were raised for Cancer Research UK during a charity boxing night at Flixton Academy of Performing Arts.
A full house produced an electric atmosphere during nine bouts of action on Saturday, December 6.
Many of the amateur boxers faced 12 weeks of intense training at Partington Boxing Gym to prepare for their first ever fights.
Organiser Mark McGarry of Stretford Scaffolding said he was "delighted " with how the event went, adding: “It was great to see people get fit to have a boxing bout and in the process support their local gym and Cancer Research.”
Mark thanked the community for their involvement, including all the fighters and trainers who helped organise the event, as well as Santander and Braclays in Urmston for price matching raised funds.
The night raised £1,000 for Partington Boxing Gym and more than £4,500 for Cancer Research.
