FOUR roads in Altrincham have figured in the top ten of areas in the north west that could truly be described as "millionaires' row".

The figures are contained in the latest research from the Land Registry and carried out by Lloyds Bank detailing the cash hotspots between 2009 and 2014, for the wealthy to set up home.

Outside southern England the most expensive street is the north west is on Park Lane, in Hale, where property prices average £2.494 million.

Rightmove lists a detached house on the lane selling in 2011 for £3.75 million.

Park Lane also figures at 48 out of 50 in the most expensive houses across England and Wales.

Meanwhile nearby South Road comes in second spot with the average price topping £2 million (£2.025m). A detached house sold in August of this year for £2.2 million.

Coming in at number nine is East Downs Road where the average house price is £1.162 million. A house sold on the road for £2.750 million in August 2008.

And in tenth place is Barry Rise, where houses average £1.105 million. A six bedroom house on the rise sold for £1,850 million in July 2013.

Andy Hulme, mortgages director at Lloyds Bank, said: "The region's most expensive streets are generally in areas south of Manchester, such as Altrincham, Prestbury and Wilmslow.

"These are all well known hotspots for those who aspire to have it all, and boast eight of the ten most expensive streets.

"All of these areas have outstanding properties, excellent schools, good shopping facilities and are on the edge of the countryside but still close enough to the centre of Manchester."

The most expensive street in England and Wales was Grosvenor Crescent, Westminster where average prices were £16.918 million.
