A SINGLE mum from Sale Moor has opened a shop she won in a competition at Stretford Mall on Small Business Saturday.

Tracey Gibbons, 33, mum to Abbigail, 11, and Sophie, two, took the top slot in the Dragon’s Den style competition to clinch a free unit for six months at the mall

Tracey's Girl For Bags business stocks top name branded ladies’ handbags.

Tracey said: “It’s still only just sinking in that I won and I'm so thankful for the opportunity and excited for the future.

“I can now build to bring more designs to my customers such as introducing the gothic brand, ‘Banned’, man bags and still so many more designs of my main brands to introduce, bag charms and bag holders plus much more.

“There has been a welcoming response already and I'm sure they'll be even happier as my collection grows."

Tracey was one of three shortlisted from more than 20 applicants who entered the contest. The other two finalists were Alex Lee, 45, a dad-of-three from Urmston whose idea was for a record shop and meeting place for local musicians to champion the Manchester music scene called ‘Soundwaves Here We Come.’

Elsewhere featured Natalie Fletcher, 41, a mum-of-one from Sale whose 28 years of experience in the sewing industry had led her to suggest Sewconvenient, a repairs and alterations business with T-shirt printing and embroidery.

Judges were so impressed by Alex and Natalie’s entries that they have been offered three months free in other units within the mall.
