COUNCIL chiefs are urging Trafford's businesses and residents to join its war on litter and fly-tipping by getting involved in its Love Where You Live campaign.

The scheme urges the borough's firms and householders to -

  • Put litter in the bins provided or take it home if no bins are available
  • Help boost the council’s recycling rates by putting your waste in the correct bin provided.
  • Not to fly tip, take bulky household items to a tip or use the council’s disposal site. Find out more here.

To get the messages across and to engage with the borough's residents, council workers plan to visit a number of schools and will be taking road shows into communities.

The campaign will feature a Bling Your Bin scheme where householders will be offered the chance to have their bins cleaned and customised in a wide range of styles to help them stand out from the crowd. Several leading local businesses and partner agencies are supporting the Council’s campaign to help more people to get the Be Responsible message.

Councillor John Reilly, the council's executive member for environment and operations, said: “We are continuing to build on the successes of the first phase of the Be Responsible campaign which has captured the imagination of Trafford’s residents young and old.

"It has also informed and raised awareness of the important environmental issues that affect us all.

"Residents across the borough are encouraged to get involved and support the next phase of the campaign Love Where You Live and to play their part in making Trafford a cleaner, greener borough and a great place to live.”
