TRAFFORD Centre For Independent Living's (CIL) newly launched Transitions project is holding workshops for disabled young people aged 14 to 18 to enable them to make the right choices about their futures.

Young people can face a bewildering array of choices when they approach school leaving age, but for those with disabilities, and their families, the choices can be much harder to make.

Caroline McAvoy, Transitions development officer, said: “The Transitions project is about empowering disabled young people to make independent decisions about how they wish to live their future adult lives. The workshop aims to supports disabled young people in Trafford to find positive non-violent ways to challenge and deal with personal experiences of bullying and hate crime.”

Trafford CIL has set up the new Transitions project using money from Children in Need.

The project will support young disabled people and their families to make the right choices about their future.

People involved in the project will be invited to take part in fun, lively discussion groups about money management, confidence building, relationships and more.

Workshops will also be an opportunity for disabled young people to meet others in a similar situation and make new friends.

In a special festive event on December 18 from 4.30pm to 6pm, Transitions will be linking up with Victoria Park Junior School in Stretford.

Tonight, November 27, Transitions will be hosting an event at Trafford CIL's base at Marshall House, Sale, from 4.30pm to 6pm.
