A HISTORIC family butchers is moving with the times by laying on a wide selection of free-range products, following a customer-led Facebook campaign.

Wrigley’s Butchers opened in Streford Mall in 1969 – then known as the Arndale Centre.

They remain the longest serving inhabitant of the precinct and have responded to recent demand by expanding a selection of free range produce.

The project began as the result of local residents setting up a Facebook page ‘free-range chicken at Wrigley’s’, to show that there was demand for free range in the Streford area.

Neil Wrigley’s initial batch of free rage chickens flew out the door, proving so successful that he now stocks free-range pork and bacon as well.

A spokesman for Wrigley’s said: “Wrigley’s have survived the highs and lows, name changes and refurbishments at the mall.

“They continue to sell high quality produce to a loyal group of Stretford residents.”

Wrigley’s remains a true family affair. Neil works behind the counter with his mum while his brother, Tim, makes the famous homemade pork pies and does the driving.
