PUPILS from across the north west were invited to Flixton Girls School (FGS) to take part in a fitness technology event.

Entitled Born to be Active Saturday Challenge, the day welcomed over 30 pupils of both genders to join in a competitive event which tracked the effects of PE on the body.

All the pupils taking part were already deemed high achieving at PE and so were able to take part in a series of workshops that were planned, co-ordinated and delivered by FGS to challenge them outside of school hours, using Ipads and pedometers to measure the impact of the activities.

The event is one of a series hosted by FGS which will enable pupils to take part in additional days across a range of subjects, teaming up with pupils from other schools and sharing best practice as well as new technologies.

Ella Sutton, FGS Year Seven, commented: “Working with pupils from other schools made it competitive as well as fun. I hope to be involved in more workshops like this in the future.”

Rob Coultas of FGS organised the event using links with the North West Gifted and Talented Organisation and described it as "a great success."
