A CHRISTMAS appeal aiming to provide the elderly with gifts this festive season has been launched across Sale and Altrincham.

The ‘Be a Santa to a Senior’ scheme is backed by local care company, Home Instead Senior Care, who have joined forces with local businesses and organisations to bring their heart-warming scheme to the area again this Christmas – ensuring that the elderly in the community get a gift under their tree.

Members of the public can hand in presents at a variety of collection points.

Home Instead will then wrap and distribute gifts to the elderly, working with local organisations including charities, church groups, medical centres, pharmacists and hospitals to identify worthy recipients.

Alan Savage, owner of Home Instead in Altrincham and Sale said: “We’re really excited about this scheme and are delighted that so many organisations are getting involved with collecting and distributing the gifts to elderly. Last year we collected over 300 gifts and we are hoping to beat that number this year."
