KIND-hearted colleagues and customers at The Co-operative’s food store in Timperley have raised £2,694 for The Christie cancer treatment centre in Manchester.

Staff at the Stockport Road store took part in Christies’ Night of Neon Walk, and completed the 10km circuit around Salford Quays in two hours and 20 minutes to raise £1,574 for the charity.

The store team also held a Halloween fancy dress night and staged cake stalls to raise an additional £1,120.

The Christie, the largest cancer care treatment centre in Europe, has been pioneering cancer research breakthroughs for over 100 years and treats more than 40,000 patients a year.

Scott Livingstone, Manager at The Co-operative Food’s Timperley store, said: “As a community retailer, it is vital we support local organisations and charities. The work of Christies is so valuable and I am thrilled that we were able to raise this fantastic sum, which should benefit so many people in the local community.

“We couldn’t have raised this money without the help of our staff and customers and we want to give a big thanks to everyone who supported our fundraisers.”
