GREATER Manchester’s Police and Crime Commissioner has encouraged Trafford residents to attend organised events this Bonfire Night.

Tony Lloyd is supporting the annual Treacle campaign, which highlights the consequences of antisocial behaviour, criminal damage and the dangers of playing with fireworks.

Mr Lloyd said he was also supporting organised events across Greater Manchester that will be policed by GMP officers.

“We’ve all seen the horrific images highlighting the devastating and sometimes fatal consequences of messing about with fireworks,” he said.

“That’s why the safest way to enjoy Bonfire Night is to attend a well-organised event.

“It’s not about stopping people having fun; it’s about everyone having a safe night without putting themselves or their loved ones in danger.

“There are plenty of organised displays happening across Greater Manchester, which are always more spectacular anyway, and is a safer and much more fun way of enjoying the night minus the risk.”
