COUNCIL chiefs are once again supporting National Adoption Week - which runs from November 3-9.
Organised by the British Association for Adoption and Fostering (BAAF), the initiative aims to raise awareness of adoption and encourage potential parents who think they may be able to offer a loving, secure family home for a child or young person, to find out more.
Trafford is organising two informal drop in sessions during the week, where people can pop in and chat with friendly members of the adoption team, or if they would prefer, just pick up an information pack.
The events are being held at:
November 4 6.30pm-8.30pm
Seymour Park Community Primary School, Northumberland Road, Old Trafford
November 6 10.30am-2.30pm
Tesco Extra Store (ground floor), Chester Road, Stretford
Trafford Executive Councillor, Mike Cornes said: "The importance of making sure we have sufficient suitable adoptive families cannot be overemphasised. Backgrounds, age, job or marital status are not what is most important. We want to hear from people who believe they can open their hearts and homes to a child or children and give them the chance to become part of their lives permanently/"
Anyone interested in finding out more should contact Trafford's adoption team on 0161 912 3379 or email adoption@trafford.gov.uk.
